Willy Verginer
Dive into the world of Italian artist Willy Verginer as he presents his latest series of hyperrealistic wooden sculptures at Galerie LeRoyer in Old Montreal. Environmental and ecological issues are at the heart of Verginer’s work, who lives and works in Val Gardena in northern Italy, a valley renowned for its ski resort, natural park, and… wood sculptures. It’s no surprise, then, that his life-sized sculptures address the close relationship between man and his environment. Linden wood and acrylic paint are his two favorite tools, with Verginer maintaining a very linear and opaque application of color, often leaving sections of his creations completely intact, allowing us to appreciate the white wood of the linden. His work is also presented at the Mocak Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow as part of the Nature in Art exhibition.
