Galerie LeRoyer | Toronto is proud to present a new solo exhibition of a Polish Canadian-born American artist James Verbicky. Titled, “Not the end, Just the Beginning”, this collection represents a significant evolution in Verbicky’s artistic journey, showcasing his latest exploration of the pervasive impact of media saturation on our perception.
Inspired by the magazine vendors along the Seine in Paris, over the years Verbicky developed his signature style of mixed media artwork. In this series, the artist continues to transform collage into his primary artistic tool, using it as a "paintbrush" to create intricately layered compositions. At the same time, he increasingly integrates his own artistic hand and paint into the process, blending traditional craftsmanship with his innovative approach to collage. Each piece is crafted with a blend of meticulous planning and spontaneous intuition, resulting in works that challenge viewers to delve into visual puzzles and kaleidoscopic arrangements. The deliberate balance in his art invites us to uncover and interpret shifting fragments of meaning with each new perspective, making every encounter with the work a unique experience.
Art, like life, is an evolving narrative. With the “Not the End, Just the Beginning” collection James Verbicky encourages viewers to embrace the present while looking forward with optimism. He celebrates the beauty of artistic evolution while also inspiring us to reflect on personal transformation and renewal.
