Biography
Taner Yılmaz was born in Frankfurt in 1981 and later moved to Bursa, Turkey. He began painting as a child, immersing himself in the world of art history and studying the works of great masters like Velázquez and Rembrandt. Yılmaz's paintings are deeply personal, serving as a way for him to express emotions and ideas drawn from his subconscious. His approach to art is an exploration of inner feelings, translated into vibrant, evocative imagery.

Focusing primarily on portraiture, Yılmaz employs a wide range of techniques, including cubism and impressionism, to elicit profound emotional responses from his audience. His use of fragmented forms and expressive brushstrokes creates a hypnotic effect, pulling viewers into a sensory experience where they can almost touch, taste, smell, and hear the scene as if they were living it themselves. This immersive quality is central to his work, as he invites the viewer not just to look, but to feel the emotions embedded in the portrait

"I believe that I can capture expression more effectively in portraits. Expression lies in one's hands, sitting posture, and body language. The eyes, too, can communicate a multitude of emotions without uttering a word. I consider my work successful if it can hypnotize the viewer, even for a brief moment, as they engage with it."

Yılmaz's work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows across the UK, Holland, Turkey, the US, and Canada. His ability to merge technical skills with raw, sensory experiences has earned him recognition in the contemporary art world.
