Biography
Hailing from Milan, Italy's capital of design, Alessandro Paglia has long been captivated by the timeless elegance of the classic black and white palette, whether in fine arts, design, fashion, film or photography. With a background in product design and over a decade of experience, he is also deeply intrigued by aesthetics, textures and materials. His high-impact artworks are a stunning fusion of these passions.

Paglia uses his work to explore the life of an object, its story, its personality, the ingenuity of its creator, and what he calls its hidden world. While many of his chosen subjects are iconic pieces of design history or popular culture, his latest collection includes characters from the realm of cartoons, presented in an entirely new light. For his dazzling ‘Midas Touch’ quartet, Paglia developed a unique printing technique, combining hand embossing with a gold leaf finish to create a series of striking editions. Due to the handmade nature of each piece, slight variations between characters make each edition highly collectible.

In his original works, Paglia employs pen and rich, vivid tones, favoring vibrant textures. Completely hand-drawn, he uses deep, inky blacks to enhance this contrast. The rough grain of cotton paper further accentuates this effect, painstakingly layers colors to achieve a nuanced, refined finish. Each piece takes at least 50 hours to complete, and sometimes as many as 250, but the result is a visually captivating and innovative statement of genuine power.
