Biography

Ermilo Espinosa is a skilled visual artist specializing in painting, with a profound interest in technique and the poetic and philosophical aspects of his work. He holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree with a focus on painting from the University of Guadalajara in Mexico. Ermilo further honed his skills through courses at the Yucatan Fine Arts State Center and the Cabañas Cultural Center in Guadalajara. His journey into the visual arts began in his early childhood, influenced greatly by his grandfather, a renowned Yucatecan artist who served as his main teacher.

Inspired by the masterful portrayals of Maestro Torre Gamboa, the creative energy of a group of young artists from Guadalajara, and the admiration for artists such as Arturo Rivera, Sandorfi, Saudek, and Gottfried Helnwein, Ermilo Espinosa has always sought technical mastery and a strong intuitive connection with the viewer in his work. His artistic endeavors have afforded him the opportunity to study the works of great masters in renowned museums worldwide, as well as explore avant-garde proposals at internationally recognized fairs and biennials.

Ermilo Espinosa has held several solo exhibitions, including notable shows like "Visiones en Silencio" at Casa Oswaldo Guayasamín in Havana, Cuba (July 2007), "Murmullos en Babel" at Centro Cultural de Mérida Olimpo in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico (July 2008), "Ausencias y Presencias" at Museo José Luis Cuevas in Mexico City, Mexico (November 2012), "MUTE" at Museo Casa Diego Rivera in Guanajuato, Gto., Mexico (November 2013), "FACE TO FACE" at Hotel de Manville, Hall of the Mayor's Office in Les Baux, France (July 2015), and "ERMILO ESPINOSA TORRE" at Au Medicis, Galerie Marguerite Milin in Paris, France (March 2016).
