Biography

Photographer and graphic designer by training, Janna turned to fine arts in a self-taught manner when she created her first collages in 2017. Cutting from publications of all kinds, she assembled a few hundred works that quickly garnered attention for their refined aesthetic and intriguing contrast. Her individual collages have been exhibited in Montreal, New York, Maastricht, and Toronto.

In 2018, she unveiled Biotopia, presenting for the first time a series of collages inspired by nature and femininity. Following this, the artist deepened her research on the relationship between human evolution and nature. This body of work was exhibited in 2019 as part of Artch, a pivotal event for the learning and career of the emerging artist. Afterward, she fully dedicated herself to assembling new bodies of work and integrating new mediums as complementary additions to collage. Her creations were later showcased at the Institut National gallery in 2021, and for the first time in a solo exhibition in new territories in 2022 at the Revelstoke Art Center.

In 2023, during a solo exhibition at the Maison de la Culture de NDG, she presented her first sculptures with serpentine forms, featuring scales made of artificial nails.

Alongside her personal practice, the artist also takes on editorial commissions, including work for Dead by Daylight, Noémiah, Yardley London, Dress to Kill, C2 Montréal, and ELLE magazine, which have published her works in many countries such as England, Australia, Korea, Japan, Norway, Hungary, Taiwan, Ukraine, the Netherlands, China, and the Czech Republic.

Since 2020, Janna has also been dedicated to teaching creativity techniques and graphic design at Collège Salette, as well as marketing and presenting work in exhibition contexts for the photographers of Collège Marsan.
